Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God.  I will send the Holy Spirit and He will be your counselor.  I have heard the word counselor associated with God and the Holy Spirit numerous times, whether in the Bible or from pastors but the word was ambiguous.  They might was well have said the Holy Spirit will be your Etymologist.  (FYI – Etymology is the study of the history of words.)  There are so many attributes that are given to God that we don’t fully understand and if we did, we would realize the true completeness and vast resources that often go over looked.  I had heard that the Jesus was sending the Holy Spirit, once He left the earth, to comfort us and to be a counselor.  I was grateful, even if it was just for leaving heaven to do something for me, but I didn’t really understand what exactly He was doing as “my counselor.”

With the departure of Tully our company decided to have a “resource” here to help out for a couple of days; basically a grief counselor.  I was raised where we did things ourselves.  We didn’t need anyone else we would figure it out on our own.  Maybe this came from my parents have to figure a lot out on their own growing up and they became self reliant or a bad experience I am not really sure; but I never liked it.  Being self sufficient is a great quality in some areas, but I don’t believe it is healthy in all areas.  I figure if someone has spent years doing something or went to school for 8 years, they must have learned something.  They are not God or the ultimate authority, but I must be able to learn something from them.  So, I have always tried to approach situations like that.

Back to the grief counselor. We had a meeting this morning at ten for all the people from the department that worked with Tully to meet with the counselor.  So, I went over a few minutes early and got a good seat.  I met the counselor, she had a unique name.  I will spare you all of the details, but there was a few of us with her for over an hour.  When I left  I did feel better.  She hadn’t really done much, but just being able to talk about it, with a little guidance, really made a difference.

I learned something, that if the Holy Spirit is our counselor then He is a really good listener and it is beautiful to think of God as a great listener.
